Welcome to my Pirates of the Caribbean webpage.
Below you will find images of my personal PotC machine and all of
the custom modifications / improvements I have made to it (so far). The
game is quite fun to play. The soundtrack could be better, and I
really wish it had voices of the actors from the movie. The music
from the movies would also sound much better than the somewhat comical theme
that they did use. It sounds more like the ride at DisneyWorld than
it does the movie, but what can we do? Very few problems out of the
box. A few bulbs out. Ship is a bit quirky, but the latest
ROM (1.09) is supposed to fix that. Just a note to all - the solenoid
wiring for the sails comes VERY CLOSE to hitting/getting caught on the Kraken
plastic, so check that out if your ship is not cycling correctly. I
have already added a new shooter, 6 of the Zizzle 3.5" figures (mounting
method is the same as in LOTR, using #4 screws from
below) and Jack the monkey as well, and repainted the ship and chest to better
match the shots from the movie, all of which are shown below. In addition,
I added a few ships to the top to simulate the Black Pearl and the Flying
Dutchman. (Click here to see how I did this).
So sit back, put your finger on that scroll wheel, and enjoy.
Latest shot of the pin with the topper in place.

Upper LH playfield with ship and added figures (Davy Jones
& Elizabeth).
Upper RH playfield with Jack & Will figures added.
Shot of the RH middle of the playfield wtih the modified chest
and Pintel figure.
Shot of the LH middle of the playfield with Davy Jones and
Bootstrap Bill figures.
Close-up of Davy Jones and his pegleg hovering over the LH
orbit.
Close-up the repainted Bootstrap Bill hovering over the LH bonus loop.
Close-up of the repainted chest (based on picture of Davy
Jones holding the chest).
Close-up of the repainted ship. There are fiber-optics
running to all of the cannons and the eyes of the skull.
Eyes and cannons flash red everytime the ship is hit. Looks
really cool live (video to follow). I also
changed the lights to green to give a more "sea-worthy" look. Plus
it really mutes those bright white lights.
Since the shot is to hit Jack the monkey, I added one of those as well.
Had to create a small plastic
to mount him on, but that really wasn't a problem. I also added
a small Aztec gold coin in his hand
since we all know he stole it at the end of the 1st movie (that's why
he won't die when Jack shoots him).
Playfield shot including new rules and balls per play cards.
Don't mind that score - not as good as the original high score,
but I updated the software and that's it so far.

Shot of the new shooter. Made from the metal Aztec Gold coin
from the first movie.

lighting for the top.
Before you even ask, this was a one-time only creation for my PotC and
is NOT for sale (unless I sell the whole machine, in which case the topper
most likely goes with it. Just in case you think you have a chance,
my brother has already expressed interest - more like begged - that I sell
it to him). The link has the basic
directions and specific items used to create the topper, so you can build
one yourself ! Just follow the directions and be creative !
A few more "additions" include the blue flipper rubber and green bulbs
in the spotlights around the ship. The green lights really mute those
bright lights on the ship and allow you to see the red cannon flashes better.
They also make the Kraken look a tad more menacing!
